NASHVILLE, TN. -- Candidates and Campaign workers from across the Southeast are coming to Tennessee for campaign training by Brent McMillan, Political Director of the Green Party of the US. This weekend, the Green Party of Tennessee plays host to political candidates and campaign workers across the southeast for three days of workshops on running effective political campaigns. The Tennessee Green Party will host a Southeast Regional Campaign School, August 24-26, at the Ecovillage Training Center on The Farm in Summertown, Tennessee, with the core curriculum being presented on Saturday, August 25. Workshop leaders Brent McMillan, Green Party Political Director, and North Carolina Green Gray Newman, serving his second four year term on the Mecklenburg County Soil and Water Conservation Board, will conduct seminars and answer questions about What Every Candidate Should Know, Effective Fund-raising, Running a Get-Out-the-Vote Campaign, Garnering Media Attention, and Framing the Green Vision. This event is open to anyone, the novice and experienced alike, who wants to run for office or join a political campaign focusing on a grassroots approach to campaigning. The workshops cover the basics of a running a campaign and offer tools to sharpen the skills of experienced campaign workers. It has been designed to be affordable for everyone. The Ecovillage Training Center on The Farm specializes in teaching appropriate technologies for the post-peak oil era. A site tour and presentation on natural building and appropriate technology will also be part of the program. This is the first regional Green Party gathering in the Southeastern US, and promises to be a historic milestone on the Party's road to engaging Americans in the political process.
