The Women's Caucus of the Green Party will hold its Third Annual Meeting during the convention.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Medea Benjamin, co-founder of Code Pink, Global Exchange, and United for Peace and Justice, will discuss the first organized national effort for women in the history of the Green Party at Forward! 2004, the Green National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ms. Benjamin ran as Green candidate for the U.S. Senate in California in 2002.

During the convention, the party's Women's Caucus will hold its Third Annual Meeting on June 24 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Room 202 AB at the Midwest Center. The theme of the meeting is Forward 2004! Women in Green Politics. Medea Benjamin is scheduled to address the Caucus at 1:00 p.m.

Ms. Benjamin, who has dedicated her life to fighting for the rights of women and for peace, said, "Women can be the force to change the world, but they need to organize and unite together. They are doing that in impoverished and war-torn pockets around the world with surprising success, in places where no one would think it possible. The women of the Green Party can be that force for change. It is very hopeful news that they are uniting in this way. I have been waiting a long time for this."

"Medea has done so much to build the Green Party," said Morgen D'Arc, co-founder of the National Women's Caucus and national committee delegate at the convention. "She puts Green values into action.  'Women in Green Politics' is our theme because we are on the eve of affiliation with the national party, which will usher in a new era for women in the Green Party."
